STA L2 Swimming Teacher Course

One Qualification. One Clear Pathway.
This qualification replaces STA’s previous Award and Certificate structure, bringing everything together into one comprehensive Level 2 qualification.

Developed in line with CIMSPA’s updated Swimming Teacher Professional Standard, it equips you with all the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to teach the full learn-to-swim pathway (e.g. Swim England’s Stages 1 – 7) appropriate to the participant’s needs across all ability groups.

This course blends online and face-to-face learning, totalling 62 hours. You’ll complete six online modules (about 20 hours, equal to roughly three days) on your own schedule before attending five days (42 hours, including breaks) of in-person training. Altogether, this makes it an 8-day program.

What You Will Learn
The enhanced curriculum blends technical foundations with practical, hands-on teaching experience, covering:

  • Core swimming strokes and stroke development
  • Essential swimming skills and water confidence
