STA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid

Introduction

The paediatric first aid qualification aims to give learners the necessary skills and knowledge to deal with a range of emergencies involving children.

Qualification Objectives

The paediatric first aid qualification aims to enable learners who work or intend to work in a childcare setting, with the skills, knowledge, understanding and ability to deal with emergency situations.

The range of skills covered includes first aid and resuscitation procedures for child and infant casualties. Learners will be able to recognise and manage childhood medical conditions, as well as being able to provide emergency treatment until the arrival of the emergency medical services.

Target Learners

For those who are currently employed, or who wish to be employed in a childcare setting, including nursery nurses, pre-school teachers, teaching assistants and student teachers.

Progression

Upon successful completion of this qualification learners may wish to pass on the knowledge and skills they have acquired through training as a first aid tutor/assessor.
